Angelina's play

This is Angelina's "script" she wrote for her play. It was a musical. I got a kick out of it because it was the Shepherds talking to Jesus. She wrote and said the Shepherds were Lepers ("leprd"). And the end, during her singing, she said that Jesus loves the shepherds and that He loves everyone no matter what. It was actually very touching. I wish my future self could go back and tell my past self to record it....

This is my first letter from Angelina. Above is the front, and below is the back with the letter on it. It reads: "I love you mom. but same tiames (some times) you are bad. but I still love you. I am soy ree (sorry) that I hit David." I asked her what it meant that I am bad sometimes. She said it's because I get them in trouble and that is bad.... love it.

"David's Project" 7/27/2011

David got a "project", as he called it, for his birthday. It was a kit to cast dinosaur bones out of a mold and then paint them. He helped me with the cast mixture by mixing it up with a spoon. We poured it in the molds together. After many hours of letting it harden, he painted almost all of them. A few he had to take a break because "my hand is tired". Then I helped him do the white out line of the bones. He did so good! See the end result on the bottom.

Angelina and David decided they wanted to get some food down and needed a chair to do it. But, half way through getting the cheerios down they decided they didn't want to and they abandoned the chair in the pantry. Well, Vanessa took advantage of the chair and decided to get a string of dry pasta to eat. She spilled an entire bag. The kids were all forced to pick up. I left them alone for a minute to do something else while they picked up. What is not pictured here is that they decided to break up the pasta into tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny pieces. I forced them to pick up as many pieces as they could, and Angelina had to vacuum the rest. It was a long frustrating ordeal. They assured me they learned their lesson(s).

Vanessa gets really serious about singing. You'll have to watch until the last half because she gets really into it. She'll just break out in song sometimes and dance in circles. The video above is of me trying to get Vanessa to say NO, but she is in fact saying a far more difficult and interesting word--she is saying, "cheese", to get her picture taken. But, I wouldn't let it go. I wanted her to say NO because it's so cute.

Christmas Day 2010

This year we had to wake David up to go downstairs. Angelina and David gave me strict instructions the previous evening that once I wrapped their presents to each other for them, I would separate them from the rest of the gifts because they wanted to open their gifts from each other first. Angelina gave David a Superman action figure, and David gave Angelina some crayons. Vanessa was still asleep.

Then the rest of the unwrapping began. (I didn't post all the pictures)

I'm not sure what this face is about because I love my new shoes.

Vanessa finally woke up (sort of), and she started her unwrapping by laying down and unwrapping. When she woke up more, then she took on the unwrapping sitting up.

Vanessa's favorite gift is definitely her doll.

Angelina and David got Cheetos in their stockings, and I allowed them to eat them for Breakfast just this once.

For Christmas dinner we had roast beef. The family came over and we had lots of fun!!

David didn't end up getting a Superman costume with a zipper, but Superman and Batman pajamas with capes. He has worn one or the other every day since.... (here he is wearing his cape inside out for some reason)

Christmas Eve

Sadly, this is the only picture we have of our wonderful Christmas Eve evening. I tried to make Alex's favorite Brazilian dishes, and I did OK, I think. We are about to read the Christmas story (and we kind of acted it out..sort of)

This is my annual Christmas morning picture. I take it because it is literally my most peaceful time in the year. This year I finished wrapping an half hour early at about 3:30 AM and the dark stillness of the morning with the beauty of the lights on the Christmas tree and all the other decorations is the opposition I need to just calm my soul after I'd been hustling to wrap everything. I have a moment to just be by myself and feel the CHRISTmas spirit of it all.

Angelina in the ER

In one week we had two ER visits. Angelina was first because her cough kept persisting, and at 4AM Alex got sick of it and just woke up and took her in. They thought she might have Bronchitis so they put her on a breathing treatment. I'm posting this picture because I want to remember something David said. I was at the computer checking my email, when Alex had sent this email with this picture via his cell phone. I opened the photo and showed David (Alex and Angelina were still at the hospital). I noticed David getting a little upset. I explained where she was and what was happening in the picture. The rest of the conversation went like this:
Me: Are you OK, David?
David: Yes, but I don't like that [picture]
Me: Wait, are you getting tears in your eyes?
David: Yes
Me: Why?
David: Because Angelina's my girl.

Angelina is the only child out of our three that will sit on Santa's lap. She has done it since she was 6 months old without fail. Here she is telling Santa she wants him to bring her "kid umbrellas" for Christmas

As a side note: When we asked David what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas (a couple weeks before this Santa day) He gave us one of his usual riddles: something big, with something small, that is easy to take on and off. He later told me after I couldn't figure it out and pressed him for more information, that the something big = superman costume, something small = the cape on the costume, easy to take on and off = a zipper in the back so the costume doesn't fall on and off while he's running. And he was serious about the zipper too. He condensed telling people what he wanted to "a superman costume with a zipper". I hope he doesn't grow out of the riddles.

Last year when he was 2 years old his riddle was: something that I like, and tastes yummy (which he later told us was a "big treat").

This year for Halloween, Angelina went as a black cat (with some extras: a bow tie and fancy cloves).

For Halloween, David went as our favorite character from the Original Nickelodeon series Avatar: The last Airbender , Aang.

We always go trick or treating in my parent's neighborhood, but this time we were lucky enough to have our friend's go with us. My camera's battery died so these are the only pictures I have (Thanks to Jennie). The above picture is all the kids together.

This is our only Halloween picture of Vanessa were she isn't crying or fussy. This is my friend Jennie.

David was totally finished and in a stroller long before we finished, but by the end of the night these two tired girls (Angelina and Megan) clung together supporting each other to keep going.

Angelina's field day

Here is the only usable picture I have of Angelina on her first field day. It was so dark in the gym! She ran most of the races (a pumpkin roll, pizza box relay, patton relay, a scooter relay, a hoola hoop relay, a hold a ring with another person relay, and a galloping relay). Alex took off work to go too. Angelina say an old guy in the audience of parents and thought it was her grandpa in the distance, but he really wasn't there. I had fun cheering her on.

The field trip to the fire station was very fun. The fireman had great presentations planned. Talked to the kids about fire safety and the equipment; let them go through the back of the fire truck. And took class pictures in front of the truck (pictures are pretty self explanatory).
